We go from wanting perfect lighting to purposely
going backwards with vintage coloring, so OK, lets
do this! Here are some examples. Please feel free
to leave comments on my blog of what you think,

Hibernating Trends: Table Number Photos
Current and future engagement session couples: I'm
up for this if you are!
I came across this idea and I love it so much I had to
share!
During your engagement photo session, you hold up
your pre-made numbers, one number per different
photo and print for your table numbers. Use frames
or make your own stationary squares for the
background.
Here is a link to show you how:

To spin off of this idea I also came up with the idea
that we can also add the number digitally after your
photo session. You pick the photos, colors, the style
of font you'd like and the numbers you want for
each. Or I add the numbers randomly to the photos
you chose. They will be included on your disc of
photos separately so you still have the originals. You'll
be able to print them at what ever size you'd like.
Let me know if this is something you'd like to do and
I can include this in your engagement session.

The latest in wedding photography & style

Hibernating Trends:
Typography ~ on the Inside
I am not against the imprinting on the outside of
albums but I have to say I really like this new fresh look
and style. It's clean, more durable and there are more
options in the font choices. Not to mention the color
variety and amount of wording you can do.
If you have a Coffeetable Album in your near future, it
may just be something for you!
Hibernating Trends: Word Up
Wording on photos expresses emotion in a new way.
Adding the date or a special saying can make it
individual to each couple. It's trendy and timeless!

Hibernating Trends: Going against all the rules
As a photographer we are taught to be aware of backlight, position
subjects towards the light, no sun, use shade and always watch out for
what is in the background. Well say goodbye to all of that because now
it's time to break the rules. Lately it's been all about the sun shining
through the background, using backlight as the advantage and extreme
brightness in images. Sometimes even over-exposed. I know it's going to
take some getting used to but I think I can manage.

Coming soon - Night Shots!
Hibernating Trends: faded love
So the latest trend is faded photographs. I'm having a hard time getting
used to it but I try anything once. I can't help but feel like grabbing it
and taking it into photoshop to fix it! haha...
Here is a few examples.

Hibernating Trends: photomontage
I've been seeing this a couple places recently and it really isn't too far off
from my collages from 9 years ago (see here). And so I thought I'd give it a
shot with some recent wedding photos. As it turns out I personally like
them a lot. But the important thing is - how do you like them?

Hibernating Trends: off-colour
What is it about those off-coloured, washed-out, 70s looking photos that
we all love? For me, it takes me back to my childhood and the way things
used to be, simple and good enough. For many it's appealing to the eye
because it's so different than what we've seen the last few years. It also
seems to soften the skin tones. I see that it tends to work for the
blue-eyed ones the best.

Hibernating Trends: sparklers and other lights
We love our sparklers! And the latest trend I see all over Pinterest is the
sparkler photo; where the bride & groom are standing in the center with
sparkler lights all around them. This is done with a slow shutter towards in
the evening with a person running around them. The slow shutter
captures the sparkler light but not the person doing it. It's amazing. I say
this same trick can be done with a flash light or other light source. Let's
take a look at some sparkler ones I did back in 2009.
