V8 juice WED. JUNE 4, 2008 • 11:28 PM
I am working on photos as quickly as I can so it's hard to find time for blogging, at least for now. Jim helped me with a schedule and I'm doing my best to stick to it. I am surprised to see how filled my days and nights still are but it's a good thing. We really want to try and get a studio at the house this year so we can open up more opportunities. I just discovered that we have V8 juice in the fridge, or really, I forgot. Anyway it's really good the way my friend Tracy used to prepare it with ice, pepper and lemon, water it down just a little, add the V8 and of course a straw is the only way to drink it. It is soooo good. Enjoy!
Back to work... :)
MY CURRENT PROJECT: Harder Wedding photos done, finishing up their album. Shaefer Wedding photos done, sending out by Monday. Starting on Mackin Wedding photos and website updates.
SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD: Sweet Escape - Gwen Stefani

BEST MOMENT: Watching my garden grow

Ponder FRI. MAY 23, 2008 • 8:02 PM
Although you never quite think everything will flow as originally thought... I figured I'd be a little farther than I actually am. I did get a little distracted at the beginning of the week. Sometimes I think it takes a good two weeks before everything sinks in before I can mentally focus completely. I'm surprised to how fast my days are going, it always seemed like I'd have all the time in the world. And it's actually a task to know what day it is. Weird. I feel like I need to accomplish everything I've ever wanted to do in one day. Simply impossible. Ok, I had way too much coffee, my forehead is tensing up on it's own! Gotta go...
Ps. Just wanted to congratulate Sylva and Mark Menard on their new baby - "CONGRATS!"

BugLiteZapper WED. MAY 14, 2008 • 9:15 PM
It's amazing how you reach a point in your life when when a bug zapper is exciting. We got one a couple days ago because the mosquitos are so bad here. I remember back in the day as a teenager, I don't even think I even noticed a bug let alone a bug zapper! Ok well maybe I remember them, or at least the sound of a neighbors' striking away. In some ways it takes me back to a hot summers night with crickets and stars. Ah... to be that young again...
MY CURRENT PROJECT: Wedding photos of the last two weddings (Harder & Shaefer), website updates and figuring out my new schedule.

Horror-scopes FRI. APR. 11, 2008 • 7:26 PM
Actually I saw a good one today. Usually I just joke and call them that but the one I saw today in The Metroland Capital Region's Alternative Newsweekly was really good. They seem to be based more on the present not future which is what I believe in, it's better and doesn't make you believe any certain way or be too silly to believe. It's called Free Will Astrology by Rob Brezsny. His website is www.freewillastrology.com
LIBRA: for the week of April 10: "Where would the gardener be if there were no weeds?" asked ancient Chinese sage Chuang Tzu. To that I add: Where would lawyers be without crimes? How would psychotherapists fare without neurotics? What would critics do without the stuff they love to diss? Now let's apply this line of thinking to you, Libra. What thing that you dislike also happens to be something you need? What condition that you're opposed to is essential in constructing your identity? This is a good time to acknowledge the value of everything you oppose, disagree with, and fight against."
I needed that. Thank you Rob Brezsny for the enlightenment.
Ps. It was respectfully announced at my job today about my soon departure. I am very excited about my future of being entirely a wedding and life photographer. Thank you to everyone for this wonderful opportunity. I have you to thank! Although I still will have to find some work here and there to make it up financially, it is worth it to do what my passion is.

Divorcing a sister THURS. APR. 10, 2008 • 6:37 PM
Lately I've heard that I should be more b*!¢h%y to get my way. That I let people push me around too much and don't speak up. That I'm too "nice" if that's possible. It may be true I'm a push-over and I am in fact an introvert, but why does that give a license for people to be rude or take advantage? And if I act like them, aren't I really stooping as low as they are on the respect level?
Next topic: How would you like someone saying "When you die, I get your baby." Yeah, that's what one of my sister's said to my sister Bee, the one with all the medical problems (which by the way had a bone marrow test done and we'll know results in two weeks). What happened to the father of the child in all this? WOW! How can I let that go and not confront the sister that says this? How can someone be so negative? She has said much more too, but I won't get into those. How does that even enter someones mind? Why on earth would you ever have someone on their death-bed before you even know for sure? What happened to positive thinking? They must be messed up right? How can I be blessed with good sisters and then have an evil one that plays games? What do you do when you believe a person needs to see a psychologist? I don't think there is help line for such a thing. Possible intervention 480 miles away? What do you do about a crazy person? Or maybe she's not and just knows how to play games with people's minds. Anyway, I tried. It didn't work. I'm done. Time to move on and let the crazies be crazy. YOU CAN'T FIX CRAZY. Oh and you can't help those whom don't want to help themselves. I knew that, so why do I even try? Oh... that's right because I'm crazy too and I care too much.
Everyone has a bad day. Everyone has problems. But come on. Sometimes I find myself so amazed by people and life in general. As my friend Tracy would say "it's that whole thing about the planets and universe and how they work thing..." - you know that kind of thinking; life as a whole, big picture stuff. People as they are and how most never change. Evil is everywhere, it's so hard to get away from. All we can do is put up a big GIANT shield. Or a pretty umbrella, that works too. :)
MY CURRENT PROJECT: Divorcing 1 of my 4 sisters - can I do that? And I'm really in the mood to laugh until I cry.
SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD: Get Up, Stand Up (for your rights) - Bob Marley
CRAVING: A life without drama
NEEDED A MOMENT: So that's your justification? Oh and I'll add the child support system is so unfair and messed up. Let's pay twice as much and never get any of the double payments back. yeah... that's fair. I feel for all that deal with this and ex's. 6 MORE YEARS and we'll be FREE! Well unless collage happens but hopefully by then the money goes directly to the child. How sad we have to count down, but they make it that way. Isn't it sad that people choose money over a child, or maybe that's only one-sided thinking from our part? I just heard a good song for all of us women who don't have our own children: No Less Than A Woman by Lady Saw
BEST MOMENT: Realizing no matter how poor we become, we'll be ok. As an old friend once said to me "what's the worse that's gonna happen, you're not gonna die" But then again, we could. haha...

Yet another stressful week SAT. MAR. 15, 2008 • 3:41 PM
I feel like all I write about these days is stressful topics. For some reason we have really had things just hit all at once but I guess that's how it goes right? When it rains, it pours. So all in one week: Wednesday, my car got stuck in our icy mud water hole we have in our driveway (which btw, don't pull in if you're planning a visit, unless you have 4WD). We finally got it out and parked on the street. Thursday, my car was in a "hit & run" - Jim saw a neighbor pull out, hit, pause, and keep going. Nice. And we thought it would be safe on the street until the ice melted to pull into the driveway again. Lots of people park on the street. He woke me up early and had me call the cops for a statement for the insurance. Turned out to be a friend of the neighbor, an 18 yr. old in a hurry, late for work. Ehg. I don't really care, it's a car & can be fixed. In fact we've been joking that it's my "beater" car ever since I bought it NEW. Friday, I stayed home sick with some stomach bug all morning. Who knows maybe it was all the stress. Then Jim hurt his healing back once more. I think they should have kept him outta work a bit longer and I wish they would've done physical therapy earlier. Turns out, physical therapy found that he actually might have a pulled rib instead, which means his muscle tissue is loose around the rib making it hit bone on bone. He has an MRI on Tuesday to determine if there are any other problems. What a whirl-wind. Still no news on Bee, I will call her. I don't understand the doctors and what they are waiting for.
On a fun note: It's all about the "O" and I'm not talking Overstock.com baby. Now when you save my website as a favorite, you will see a little " " in the address bar. Check it out! It took me a so long to get that html code to work, I gave up, then one day, it worked!
MY CURRENT PROJECT: Still relaxing... trying to get motivated to do projects around the house and site updates.
SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD: Come and Get Your Love - Redbone
CRAVING: Ginger Ale & when my tummy feels better, a STIFF DRINK. lol
NEEDED A MOMENT: "OK! Anything else? Caz you might as well do it all now and get it over with." Not exactly your normal prayer.
BEST MOMENT: We made it to the weekend!

Updates, no updates and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Bee WED. MAR. 5, 2008 • 6:12 PM
Happy 35th Birthday to Bee... I know it's a trying time for her and all of us right now but we are so very thankful for what we do have. Remember to cherish each day and don't waste today! Bee is still waiting on what they are going to do. Thought we'd find out more this past Monday but there are so many things that each procedure could affect the other. So they want to be sure. Well, nothing too new on the Greene front. Jim went back to work today, his back is still hurting but the docs say he's ready. We'll see... Take care and don't forget your canoe and ice skates when you leave the house.

An update on Bee FRI. FEB. 29, 2008 LEAP DAY• 11:53 PM
As the doctors look more into everything and the new test results, Bee may have something different. Now it may have something called Kappy or possibly myeloma which is a rare cancerous blood disorder. I've been doing some research online about it. It is a genetic disease which makes me wonder if that's what our dad had all along. Monday they are going to decide what to do from here. We need to have faith and positive thoughts... WE LOVE YOU BEE! Love, Holly

A Prayer for Bee WED. FEB. 20, 2008 • 10:30 PM
My sister Bridget "Bee" has to go in for serious surgery. We don't know of the date yet, still more testing to be done. There are many factors involved here between having a complicated pregnancy and other health issues. So far, the main cause seems to be an extremely rare case of endometriosis. Waylon is truly a miracle baby in more ways than one. Not only was it close to impossible to get pregnant & then to have a healthy baby while having endometriosis, but without him, we wouldn't have discovered all her health problems.
Just wanted to help make Bridget's support group even stronger. So please say a prayer and keep her in your positive thoughts. Thank you...

Influenza (aka: It-flew-inta-ya) WED. JAN. 23, 2008 • 5:13 AM
Well after 3 weeks of fighting off two strands of cold and flu that my poor hubby is going thru or went thru, now I have it. My goal is to feel better by Saturday. Anyway, it was the coolest thing yesterday morning. On the way to work (not the coolest thing) I saw a jeep in front of me... ok now hold on, there is more to it. There was a flag behind on the bridge and in the jeeps back window was the reflection of that flag, waving at me. Where is the camera when you need one? And there should be an invention for your windshield to open up just for a moment because all of the crud on it, just to take a photo. Invent that for me please.
MY CURRENT PROJECT: Getting better.

CRAVING: Doesn't matter, my throat hurts so bad I can't swallow it anyways

Plans and Nundies THURS. JAN. 17, 2008 • 5:53 PM
Hi all. I know... I have not written in a while, sorry! Just wrapping up 2007 weddings and starting 2008s! What a great 2008 calendar year so far, it is going to be a big year and I'm very excited. Just recently bought a new lens and I love it! It's a wide angle at 10-18mm. It is simply amazing what I can fit in now. Can't wait to share photos with it.
Starting end of February I have a couple months off from weddings with some weekends open. I have made plans for everyday life things and some features ideas. I plan to paint in my house (first to go is my entirely BLUE bathroom! I'm starting to feel blue just seeing it :), finish unpacking (yes, we're still unpacking and organizing), work-out more, puzzle and relax... As far as features, I really would like to do a "Shades" Gallery, of sunglasses reflections, the real ones, not photoshoped kind. Feel free to send any you want to share and I'll add! Also my "Creative Gallery II" is coming up. A "Strange Captures" Gallery where my shutter was too slow when my flash went off and caught double heads and feet and stuff. Totally silly I know but fun. A "Beautiful Mistakes" Gallery and hopefully a "Making a Life" Gallery of pregnancy photos. And some overall website updates are needed, such as adding more photos on some of the more recent weddings I've done. Ahh! So much fun coming up I can't even stand it, well yes I can. :D
Seems lately I've seen some neat or funny websites, so I have to share! Nundies. Now brides, I'm not recommending this but if it works for those see-thru kind of dresses, maybe, although, not really sure how that'd work under a dress or the attachment process. Thanks to my friend Tracy I now know about these. Goodluck: www.mynundies. com/products.php Next is an artsy site I ran across on accident. Very cool. I personally like the "Sad Mac" tissue holder: www.armatodesign.com/GreenZebra/? cat=14 Then we have the wonderfully talented Dawn Shick. Growing up with my best friend Mandy, there was always artsy stuff going on. Dawn, Mandy's sister, was an artist too (as well as many other friends and family). Anyway, enjoy some of Dawn's artwork on her site and remember to check back to see her latest: www.freewebs.com/artbydawn Lastly, gotta love this new How-to site! They demonstrate on video all we need to know: www.howdini.com

MAGICMOM TUES. DEC. 18, 2007 • 11:21 PM
Today I saw a license plate that stated the term "MAGICMOM" and it made me smile. It's not that outrageous of a term but struck me funny because it is the time of season that we try to do everything and be everyone to everyone. All the Christmas wonderment SUN. DEC. 9, 2007 • 8:03 PM
Went to a Christmas party last night and I'm partied out already. I had an ok time but Jim had to work 3-11 so I went with Big Dad & Ron (his parents). I've realized that Jim is the life of the party, or more like, the life of my party and I'm such an introvert. We balance each other. Not to mention the fact that I really didn't know anyone either.
Jim & I went to do some Christmas shopping for all the kids this morning. I can't wait to see everyone back home in Pa., haven't see them for a year. I know I should have no excuses, it's about 7 hours away from us & this is the longest I've been away. But... I did get married, bought a house, moved, run a business and work full-time M-F 9-5. But ya know, no biggie, right? Not complaining, just stating. :)
Eg. I'm having the late Sunday going-back-to-work-tomorrow blues. Goodnight ya'll and be careful with the wintry weather potpourri mix. (that's what the weather report called it, tee hee, potpourri.. who'd thought it'd be compared to the smelly stuff)

The coolest note WED. DEC. 5, 2007 • 11:02 PM
I got the coolest email that I could ever get. It's one to make ya smile, for a while. It kind of goes along with that saying I always hear... about you never know who's lives you touch. That you may not think you make a difference but you make a difference to someone. Well every once in a while we get a reminder of that & then you get an email like this:
Holly, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your photography. I was told to pick a photographer to do a presentation on in my Principles of Photography class, and I chose you. I am a student at the Art Institute of Charleston, SC, and I am studying to be a photographer. I really enjoy photography and I think that your photos are just amazing. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you that. Keep up the astonishing work! Brittany
Brittany, you truly made my day or possibly more. I have come full-circle with just this note. I finally can say that there is a reason for my hard work and extra hours, I've made a difference, somewhere. Thank you for that. I will keep on goin' trying my best. Maybe someday we can shoot together. :)

Splittin' wood SUN. DEC. 2, 2007 • 10:06 AM
Jim, bless him, has been splitting wood out in the cold all day yesterday and most of today. We started late in the season for the wood fire idea when we bought and moved into our house in Sept. Although we have alternative heat, we forgot about how much we love the wood stove. I grew up with a wood stove as our only heat when my dad was still alive. My sisters and I used to help him get the wood gathered before the first snow. In fact, he even split wood on the day he died. As I get older the more I'd rather not help but when I was younger I thought I did so much more that I'm sure I really did. Just like when I used to fill the bucket of blueberries faster than my sisters. I think every time I turned around, my dad would pour his batch in with mine. :) Thanks to all those who wrote wishing me to feel better. I am finally feeling good again. The pain in my jaw is starting to go away. Feels like it took forever but it's happening.
MY CURRENT PROJECT: Glasser & Sims photos, trying to get all wedding photos out before Christmas.
SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD: Just lose it by Eminem

Tiny bubbles WED. NOV. 28, 2007 • 3:54 AM
And not the kind of bubbles to slip on either... Fluid bubbles in my left ear. I have the beginning stages of a sinus infection, oh what fun. I go from tons of sleep to barely no sleep. I went to bed early, slept good until midnight, then I was up. The pain in my upper jaw and ear is so bad I can't sleep. (or it could be the Allegra D and nasal spray my doc put me on). Normally on any average Tuesday I work from 9am-midnight at my day job when we go to press. Wednesdays are then usually pretty light. But I just couldn't make it thru last night from this sinus thing. Ok, some random thoughts: Cordless mice & keyboards are great but the mouse constantly needs new batteries. And I hear a really strange noise outside like a dying cat. Kind of creepy. Well I'm starting to ramble. I'm gonna update my website a little and go back to bed. Goodnight & good morning.

Oh baby WED. NOV. 21, 2007 THANKSGIVING EVE • 9:03 PM
Ok, so I'm not so bored but I want a blog. Not that I have ANY time what-so-ever to blog. In fact, I can't even promise to write every day. But at least you can keep up to date on the important things and the not so important things with my life and business.
My sister Bridget "Bee" is having her second baby after 14 years of having her first. She had a lot of medical problems during this pregnancy, so many in fact, that they decided to take the baby early. They induced her at 8 pm tonight. They are not as concerned with the baby as much as they are with her condition. All my thoughts and prayers go out to her. 'I love you BEE!'
Wish her luck!
MY CURRENT PROJECT: Goodwin photos, a mural idea, and preparing for tomorrows dinner
SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD: Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas
CRAVING: Turkey & Stuffing
NEEDED A MOMENT: A holiday grinch I came in contact with today
BEST MOMENT: Finishing the cookies and looking forward to another great giving-thanks day
